I love Eight- how he can be anything from sweet and energetic to more dark and moody. And Charley - I love her kindness and her positivity. I also love how much she enjoys adventuring and her and the Doctor's bond remains unbreakable despite everything they go through in canon. I would love to see an AU where somehow they made their relationship work. I would be totally fine with something where they’re already a couple and the marriage aspect comes into play later, or something where the marriage aspect inspires them to get together.
For this request, I picked a lot of different tags with a lot of different potential tones. Please feel free to pick the freeform tag(s) that interest you and write what you think will work best. Fluff, drama/angst, hurt/comfort, humor, a combination of these, etc- go for it!
- For the amnesia marriage tags - I think an amnesia story with Eight and/or Charley would be very fun considering how often memory loss comes up in Eight’s stories. Doesn’t have to be totally light-hearted though- angst can be fun as well. :) Bonus points for the more wrong assumptions they make while their memories are gone.
- Arranged marriage AU! I could see this being a canon divergence AU or a straight up AU. A human AU would be fine, or an AU where the Doctor isn't human but isn’t an alien either. Basically I would love to see something where Charley is like “Well, I’ve been married off to the weirdest man I’ve ever met. Oh no I kind of like him?”. Or maybe something where Charley marries the Doctor in order to avoid an arranged/forced marriage to someone else.
- For the dimensional travel tags - how and why did AU!Charley and the Doctor decide to get married? Are they basically the same as canonverse Charley and the Doctor, or are there significant differences between them? What if one or both of the canonverse characters ended up temporarily switching places with the AU characters? How would they react?
- Would love the inclusion of strange Gallifreyan marriage customs, interspecies relationships being taboo on Gallifrey, Time Lords being scandalized when they find out about the marriage, etc. Also if you’re familiar with the EU character Irving Braxiatel, feel free to have him be the scandalized annoying relative from that tag, mostly because I think the idea of scandalized Brax is very funny. Susan somehow showing up at the wedding would also be fun, though I would prefer she be more supportive of her grandfather’s new relationship.

I would absolutely love a Mel and the Doctor accidental/fake marriage comedy of errors story. I would be happy with either Six or Seven being the current Doctor, whichever works better for the story you want to tell. Or something with both of them, maybe set at different points in Mel and the Doctor’s time together? Though I want their relationship to stay platonic, I would love a story where the trust and care Mel and the Doctor have for each other and the importance of their friendship is highlighted.
- Would love to see something set during Trial of a Time Lord for any of the legal-related freeforms. The idea of Mel and the Doctor getting married (or pretending to get married) so she doesn’t have to testify against him is very funny. Especially since Trial is the first time Sixie meets Mel, so he might not realize that she is lying!
- Mel and the Doctor are fake married/undercover as married and compete with each other to see who can be the most over-the-top romantic. The more schmaltzy pet names, the better. The most ridiculous meet-cute/get-together stories? Great!

Tegan can be prickly and snarky but she obviously cares about the Doctor and grows to enjoy traveling with him. And the Doctor is obviously fond of her as well. I would love to see a tropey fake marriage/marriage of convenience that leads to something more story with these two.
- Please add as much mutual pining as you want! Having to fake a marriage leading to feelings of “Oh, s/he’s not actually that bad to be married to” to “Oh, no s/he’s hot” is also very good.
- If you aren’t familiar with “Time in Office,” it’s a Big Finish audio story about the Doctor being called back to Gallifrey to serve as Lord President some time after he runs off in “The Five Doctors,” with Tegan and Leela along for the ride. In the audio, Leela (who is very excited about this idea) suggests that Tegan and the Doctor get married so Tegan doesn’t get her memory erased and sent back to Earth by Gallifreyan immigration authorities. So I am forever in love with a “Time in Office” AU where the Doctor and Tegan actually do get married for immigration purposes. Obviously you don’t have to use the exact “Time in Office” set-up, but I would love something that includes how scandalized Time Lords would be by this.

Kay and Michael are the first loves of each others’ lives, right? And even though it ended very badly, they obviously still care for each other and have at least some lingering feelings in Part III. I would love to see something set after the divorce, preferably set after the end of Part II.
- How do Michael and or Kay deal with being alone in the aftermath of the divorce? Even though their marriage had been falling apart for a while, you don’t just fall out of love overnight, and Part III proves that there were some lingering feelings on both their parts. How do they deal with these complicated feelings?
- We know that sometime in between Part II and Part III Michael gives Kay primary custody of the children even after keeping her from them in Part II- why does he change his mind? And what is their co-parenting relationship like after everything that happened? How does Kay deal with Michael potentially coming back into her life, and the fact that she knows how much power he has over her and her children’s lives even still?
- How does Kay eventually bring herself to move on and remarry after her first marriage ends so badly?
- If things had gone differently in Part III, maybe in an AU where Mary hadn’t died, would Kay and Michael have been able to get back together and potentially make it work? Not sure if it would necessarily been a good idea, but I’d love to see it.
